Dear Families,
The students of 2BR are off to a wonderful start for a successful school year. We have been practicing classroom routines and expected behaviors throughout the school. Each week we have exceeded our gold ticket count to earn our Fun Friday activities! To date our rewards for outstanding behavior have included: climbing the May Watts hill, 4-corners game in the classroom, and a classroom movie. All of these 20 minute rewards are an integral part of our Citizenship Program which promotes positive reinforcement for our students.
Citizenship: We have been learning about Conflict Resolution. The purpose of this "Talk it Out" curriculum is to: define conflict, recognize different responses to conflict, look at the consequences of each response, and to introduce the "Talk it Out" option (problem solving).

Reading ASSESSMENT on Monday - Please be sure your child returns with his/her Harcourt book for the open book portion of the test :
Your child is reading Henry and Mudge Under the Yellow Moon by Cynthia Rylant. In this story, a boy and his dog go for long walks through the woods in the fall. Although each has his own way of doing things, they both love spending time together. Please encourage your child to read Henry and Mudge Under the Yellow Moon over the weekend. Vocabulary Power precedes the story.

Field Trip Permission Forms and $ Due Friday, Sept. 30th
On October 5th we will be going to Siegel's Cottonwood Farm. Your child's permission form was sent home earlier this week. The cost of the trip is $13.50 for each child and $13.50 for each parent chaperone. Although, I would love to bring along every parent that would like to go, each classroom can only bring 3 parent volunteers. I will be contacting parents this week to ask volunteers. There is a protocol for contacting parents, so I am asking for your understanding if you are/are not contacted.

Remember that students can begin to work on their submissions for the Reflection program. This year's theme is "Diversity means..."
