Only 12 days and 1 hour left of school! Yikes. We still have quite a bit of work to do in these last days of school. Please check the blog posts during the next couple of weeks as there will be some out of the ordinary end-of-year happenings. I will update the post as changes occur.

Math

Early in the school year your child brought home a hardcover Every Day Math Reference book. It is time to send the book back to school. The book is checked out in your child's name--please send this book back to the classroom so we can get it checked back into the library.

Reading
Your child is reading Dinosaurs Travel, by Laurie Krasny Brown and Marc Brown. In this story, group of lovable dinosaurs helps readers learn how to prepare for, take, and return from a trip. Readers also learn about the different ways people travel both near and far.

Please encourage your child to read Dinosaurs Travel over the weekend. Vocabulary Power precedes the story.

Focus Skill: Author’s Purpose 

Vocabulary Power:

School-Home Connection: You may want to do this activity with your child. Auto Alphabet Game – The next time you and your child go on a long trip, play the following game to practice putting words in ABC order; Take turns naming in ABC order words you find on road signs, billboards, or passing vehicles. For example, if you identify a sign that says Airport, your child should find a sign with a word like Bank that begins with b. Then it would be your turn to find a word like Carpet that begins with c, and so on. Help your child write the words in order as they are named.
