May! How did this month come so soon? This year is flying by quickly. We still have 4 weeks left of the school year and we will be woking diligently right up to the end. :) Please remind your children to keep up their excellent work ethic that they have shown all year. I have been talking to the children about summertime and the importance of reading, reading and reading some more during the upcoming months off of school. We have all grown with our reading skills over the year, and we don't want to lose that growth over the summer. It is also a good idea to keep up with math fact and concept practice over the summer. I have several websites on the blog to visit each day.

Your child is reading Dinosaurs Travel, by Laurie Krasny Brown and Marc Brown. In this story, group of lovable dinosaurs helps readers learn how to prepare for, take, and return from a trip. Readers also learn about the different ways people travel both near and far.

may want to do this activity with your child. Auto Alphabet Game – The next
time you and your child go on a long trip, play the following game to practice
putting words in ABC order; Take turns naming in ABC order words you find on
road signs, billboards, or passing vehicles. For example, if you identify a
sign that says Airport, your child should find a sign with a word like Bank
that begins with b. Then it would be your turn to find a word like Carpet that
begins with c, and so on. Help your child write the words in order as they are
named.

Early in the school year your child brought home a hardcover Every Day Math Reference book. It is time to send the book back to school. The book is checked out in your child's name--please send this book back to school so we can get it checked back into the library.
