Welcome to 2nd Grade!
Dear 2BR Families,
Welcome to 2nd grade! I am looking forward to meeting all of you in the very near future. We have an exciting school year ahead of us...we will be making new friends, learning new things and most importantly growing together. This is the first of many blogs that you will be receiving every Friday or Saturday throughout the year. You will find the classroom blog at http://brouchblog.blogspot.com. Please look for it, each week, as it will contain pertinent information while we travel through the next nine months together. I will be contacting you by phone soon. If you have any questions throughout the year, please feel free to contact me via email or phone at any time.
Communication
You may contact me via email or by telephone. This contact information will remain on the bottom right hand corner of this blog all year. If you are calling in to report your child's absence, please call the school office 630-428-6700. My telephone ringer is off during the school day, so it's best to contact me via email during the day...or call the office and they will get the message to me.
Throughout the year I will be contacting you via email with classroom information and reminders to check the blog. You may send more than one name and email address if you would like. Please email me at Kim_Brouch@ipsd.org with the following information:

Please stop in to say hello and see your 2nd grade classroom. If you’d like, you may bring your labeled school supplies on this day. Just put them in a bag clearly marked with your name and set it near your coat hook. Please do not put supplies in your desk on this day as we will organize our supplies together on the first day of school.
School Supplies
During 2nd grade your child will be practicing organizational skills and responsibility. Please label all of your child’s school supplies with his/her name...(every pencil, every crayon, every marker, eraser, folders, etc.). If you use stickers as labels, please reinforce the sticker by using clear tape over the sticker...otherwise the stickers fall off. As we diligently work throughout the day, supplies occasionally end up on the floor and the good citizens of 2BR will want to return items to their owners. Also, please sharpen all pencils prior to bringing them to school.
If you ordered a supply kit for your child, and were unable to pick it up prior to August 17th, I will have it waiting in the classroom on Meet and Greet day. Please pick it up and take it home so you can label all the items included in the kit. Then, your child may bring it back on the first day of school.
Nutrition Break
Your child may bring a daily snack for our mid-afternoon healthy food break. Please send finger foods that do not require utensils (pretzels, raisins, dry cereal, granola bars, crackers, cheese slice or cubes, rice cakes...). Please do not send any item containing nuts. Our nutrition break will begin on the first day of school.
