Your child is reading Dinosaurs Travel, by Laurie Krasny Brown and Marc Brown. In this story, group of lovable dinosaurs helps readers learn how to prepare for, take, and return from a trip. Readers also learn about the different ways people travel both near and far. Please encourage your child to read Dinosaurs Travel over the weekend. Vocabulary Power precedes the story.

School-Home Connection: You may want to do this activity with your child. Auto Alphabet Game – The next time you and your child go on a long trip, play the following game to practice putting words in ABC order; Take turns naming in ABC order words you find on road signs, billboards, or passing vehicles. For example, if you identify a sign that says Airport, your child should find a sign with a word like Bank that begins with b. Then it would be your turn to find a word like Carpet that begins with c, and so on. Help your child write the words in order as they are named.

These activities are easy and fun to do with your child at home, and they will reinforce the skills and concepts your child is learning in school.
- Practice multiplying numbers by 2, 5, and 10.
- Use Fact Triangles to practice multiplication by covering the product. Practice division by covering one of the other numbers.
During the next several weeks, students will be learning about life cycles. Students will identify the needs of plants. the life cycle of plants and identification of component parts of plants and their major function. Essential questions that will be discussed include:
• What does a plant need to grow?
• What are the parts of a plant and their function?
• What are the stages in the life cycle of a plant?
During this unit, students will also be learning about the life cycle of a mealworm. Essential questions that will be discussed will include:
• What is a mealworm?
• What does a mealworm need to live?
• What are the four stages of mealworm development?
