Just For You - Theme 1: Being Me
Your child is reading Henry and Mudge Under the Yellow Moon by Cynthia Rylant. In this story, a boy and his dog go for long walks through the woods in the fall. Although each has his own way of doing things, they both love spending time together.
Please encourage your child to read Henry and Mudge Under the Yellow Moon over the weekend. Vocabulary Power precedes the story.

Writing:
Next week we will finish our introduction to writer’s workshop. The students have been generating ideas, and learning about writing with a voice. We will be discussing word choice as well as conventions in writing. Writer’s workshop will continue throughout the year (prewriting, drafting, editing/revising, publishing.) During our next unit of study we will focus on paragraph writing.
Math:
In math this week we learned addition shortcuts and strategies. Next week we will be covering fact families, weight, name collections, and frames and arrows.
