Dear Families,
Happy Thanksgiving Week! I hope you are all looking forward to a few days off with family and fun.
You will notice that there was not a Spelling Tic-Tac-Toe sent home on Friday. We will be working on Commonly Misspelled Word review during class time this week. Enjoy your week off from spelling homework.
Read-In Day
On Tuesday, 11/22/11, 2nd Grade will be having a
We Are Thankful For Books READ-IN DAY. Please bring
a sturdy bag with the following items to school with you:
1) Several (5-7) of your favorite books to read.
2) A flashlight or book light for “lights out” reading.
3) An extra, healthy snack.
Students may wear pajamas to school on this day. Please wear sturdy shoes to and from school. Slippers may be brought in to wear during the read-in.
Keep on Reading!
Our Reading Log minutes continue to grow! For your convenience, I have moved the maywattsreads link to the top of the left hand column of the blog. Please encourage your child to keep reading and recording. November minutes/incentive will end on Wednesday, November 30th.
Destiny Quest is an excellent place for your child to keep track of books that he/she has read, is reading or would like to read. All the books on Destiny Quest are available in our own May Watts LMC! Once a book has been finished, your child can write a recommendation for the book and pass it on to his/her May Watts friends. We reviewed the procedures and expectations for writing a good recommendation in class this week.
Note: All of your child's passwords have been taped to the inside of his/her "Home Folder". If you replace a tattered folder, please cut the passwords off of the old one and tape them to the new one. These codes are used in the classroom as well as at home, so your child should have access to them both at both locations.
Boots in the Classroom
After Thanksgiving Break (beginning November 28) students should not be wearing their boots throughout the day. Please send a pair of shoes in your child's backpack and/or leave a pair of PE shoes in the classroom that your child can change into. This includes all boots (fashion boots, snow boots, hiking boots).
Reading
This week, we will finish reading the play, Johnny Appleseed.

Technology
Please encourage your child to work on the keyboarding practice sites that are attached to the blog. This will help your child with the many projects that we will be working on both in the computer lab and in the classroom this year.
